help!...sp1 or sp2

After I install SP1 of SP2 for reporting services, I get the following
error:
The version of the report server database is either in a format that is
not
valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.6.54'. The
expected
version is 'C.0.6.43'. To continue, update the version of the report
server
database and verify access rights. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase)
I am currently running RS enteprise edition with SQL server 2000
Standard edition.
When I used to have RS std. edition with SQL server 2000 std.edition,
I've applied both service packs and didn't get the error.
Can you help me with this problem?
Thanks,If you already installed SP2, you can not install SP1 afterwards and
you do not need to.
Service Packs are cumulative - they contain everything from prior
service packs.

Help!!!Cannot connect to remote sql server by named pipe

Hi, all,

I installed sql server 2005 express on a server with window server 2003 SP1 and tried to connect it from a remote computer with vista installed.

I have already enabled named pipe and tcp/ip protocol for instance SQLEXPRESS on the server, and started sql server browser as well. Of course, I also enabled local and remote connection using tcp/ip and named pipe by sql server surface area configuration tool.

In this senario, I can connect to server locally or remotely by tcp/ip and connect to server locally by named pipe(c>sqlcmd -S \\192.168.1.100\pipe\MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS\sql\query -U * -P *), but I can not connect to server remotely using same command line.

According to some article from MSDN, it might be caused by firewall, but I already disabled my firewall. Moreover, I used tools like makepipe.exe and readpipe.exe, they didn't work too. Why the 2 computers can't create connection using named pipe protocol.

By "remotely" what do you mean? Are you talking a VPN or across the Internet?

You do not want to run named pipes across the Internet for many reasons. Named pipes use TCP port 445. Across the Internet you are subject to firewall in all the routers in between the 2 computers.

Use TCP/IP.

I'm having a similar issue. As far as I can tell, all the configuration is set up correctly. The remote connection is enabled, TCP/IP is enabled, firewall is turned off. I'm trying to connecto to a database on a remote server using Sharepoint desinger and always get an error message saying 'The data retrieval service encountered an error during connection to the data source'.

Anyone had a luck with using the database connection feature in the Sharepoint designer?

I am also having a simliar issue. Running sql server 2005, trying to connect using crystal reports 8.5, get error 'unable to connect to sql server <server name>' when connecting from a machine running windows server 2003 service pack 1.

The strange this is that it connects fine when I connect using the same crystal report, version 8.5 from my PC running Windows XP service Pack 2, so it means that the sql server 2005 is configured correctly.

I can connect to the server using ODBC on the windows server 2003 machine - just not through the crystal report.

Anyone else had this issue? Or any ideas how I can solve it?

|||I'm having a problem too. I can connect to SQL Server 2k5 via TCP/IP on all my WinXP machines, but my WinVista machine fails. I am also not using Windows authentication because I am connecting via the Intnernet, and will not be using Windows domains.

the client is sql server 2005 and is running on vista. it worked fine from my xp box. this problem is killing me at the moment.

Help! Printing Error from client (browser)

We have 2 servers with RS:

1.SQL RS 2000 SP3a

2.SQL RS 2005 SP1

When we try to use client side printing in SQL 2000 RS we getting error "An error occured during printing '0x8007F304' ".

When we try to use client side printing (from the same client PC) in SQL 2005 RS, it print fine without any problem

That post refering to installing SQL2005 SP1 to fix printing problem. We have SQL2005 SP1 installed on 2005 server, but reports are not prints when RS running to SQL 2000 server!!

HELP! Can't connect to MSDE using Enterprise manger

I installed an instance (only one) of MSDE200 sp3a on one of the desktop machine (XP pro sp1), I would like to manage it by using the enterprise manager installed on another machine on the same network. I was getting the "SQL server does not exist or acce
ss denied" error. I am sure I have enter the proper login info and the MSDE is running.
Is there any configuration need to be done on the MSDE? any expert here can help me on this?

probably you installed the remote MSDE instance with the default parameter
which disable network protocols for it, not allowing remote connections to
that server...
please run svrnetcn.exe (Server Net Utility) on that server to verify the
desired network protocols are enabled...

HELP! - The report server is not responding

Hi,

RS 2005 (sql 2005 SP1) on Windows 2003 SP1

The report server was running ok until this morning. Its just giving a "The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer." message when trying to open the report manager.

Any ideas?

Couldn't find a solution, ended up uninstalling and re-installing SQL 2005. It works now but that was a nightmare.|||

I have the same problem now, but I am setting up a new deployment on another server, the original one can display the reports but it can not email out the reports.

Even though I am setting up a new report service on another server, I am encountering an error like the following:

first thing for me would be to install the latest service pack first (You are running on the RTM version whereas the version 9.0.00.2047 is the most current.

This is the same error I had, I spent 2 days looking for a resolution but couldn't find one. I ended up re-installing SQL 2005 which obviously fixed the problem.

You may want to consider paying for some Microsoft support as I dont think anyone here knows the answers to this.

The thing is I got this error after I installed a brand new report service on a server. I have reinstalled SQL 2005 so many times to solve this problem, but I still have the same error.

I am thinking, there are places I probably did not configure right during the report service setup, and the problem is I don't even know what are the right configurations I need to setup for the new report service. I'm suffering from this problem but in my case sometimes the report works and sometimes not.

Hi,

I solved my problem by going through the tips provided by someon else, it worked...

Beside the tips, you have to check IIS setting about the pooling...

I had a problem because I found out my report service was not with SQL 2005, it was the version before SQL 2005...

So, if you installed Report Service not along with SQL Server, you will have a lot of problems.

I'm having at the present the same problem - my RS instance returns "The report server is not responding..."-message. Here is my scenario: 2 virtual PCs (VPC1 and VPC2). The SSRS is installed on both machines, and both instances configured to use one database, hosted on VPC2. VPC1 serves as Web-server.

I followed the hints listed in "How To: Configure a report server Scale-out deployment" from Books Online. I used "Reporting Services Configuration Manager" on both VPCs to set up the properties of the instances. I can see both instances from SQL Server Management Studio.

Hello again,

today I reinstalled the instances of SQL server on both VPCs. At the present I have DB engine installed on VPC1 and reporting services installed on VPC2. I can access the DB engine from VPC2 using SQL Server Management Studio, but when I open browser, I get the same error.

I suspect, there is a problem with IIS configuration. I will try to find out what could be a reason for this behaviour.

I reinstalled the IIS on VPC2 and the reconfigured Reporting Services using "Rep. Services Configuration Manager". When I try to access http://localhost/reports on VPC2, I get the following error:

Hello,

this is a nice point. I really forgott to register .NET 2.0 with new installation of IIS. :-( Additionally I removed Sharepoint Server 2007 from the VPC.

At the present I need to stop my experiments, but I will return to them soon. The latest step I did was to install the default configuration of RS on VPC2 - just to check, that everything works. Later on I want to change the DB used by the installtion.

I have the same problem now, but I am setting up a new deployment on another server, the original one can display the reports but it can not email out the reports.

Even though I am setting up a new report service on another server, I am encountering an error like the following:

I looked at the log file and I found the following error:

This is the same error I had, I spent 2 days looking for a resolution but couldn't find one. I ended up re-installing SQL 2005 which obviously fixed the problem.

You may want to consider paying for some Microsoft support as I dont think anyone here knows the answers to this.

I solved my problem by going through the tips provided by someon else, it worked...

Beside the tips, you have to check IIS setting about the pooling...

I had a problem because I found out my report service was not with SQL 2005, it was the version before SQL 2005...

So, if you installed Report Service not along with SQL Server, you will have a lot of problems.

I reinstalled the IIS on VPC2 and the reconfigured Reporting Services using "Rep. Services Configuration Manager". When I try to access http://localhost/reports on VPC2, I get the following error:

Server Error in '/Reports' Application.

Parser Error Message: Cannot use 'partitionResolver' unless the mode is 'StateServer' or 'SQLServer'.

HELP!

Using SQL 2000 with SP1 installed, Just doing some examples with northwind, when I try to create a report with the images stored in the Categories table, I get the red X's that show when there isn't a valid image. When I pull the data into access and view the pics they show. Any advice?You'd have to convert the image to Base64 encoding. Try this:

Help with using OUTPUT parameter
